Union Minister Inspects Rs 92 Crore Redevelopment of Puducherry Railway Station

Union Minister of State for Railways and Jal Sakthi, V Somanna, conducted an inspection on Sunday to review the ongoing Rs 92 crore redevelopment at Puducherry railway station.
The Southern Railway's Tiruchirappalli Division released a statement indicating that this initiative aims to enhance passenger amenities and infrastructural facilities. The project includes erecting two main buildings with centralized air conditioning, akin to airport standards, along with segregated drop-off and pick-up bays.
Other upgrade plans involve the renovation of platforms and shelters, construction of two Foot Overbridges, a new parcel office, drivers' room, operational building, sewage treatment plant, and expanded parking areas for various vehicles. During the inspection, V Somanna assessed station layout improvements, modernization efforts, and new safety measures. He interacted with key project personnel and reiterated the commitment to completing the redevelopment within the stipulated timeframe with minimal passenger disruption. Senior railway officials, including Additional General Manager Kaushal Kishore, Chief Administrative Officer (Construction) Amit Kumar Manual, Divisional Railway Manager (Tiruchirappalli) M.S. Anbalagan, and Chief Engineer (Construction) K. Ravi Kumar, were present, alongside Puducherry's Speaker R Selvam, Home Minister A Namassivayam, and Rajya Sabha Member S. Selvaganapathy.
