Tata Electronics' $3.6 Billion Chip Plant to Generate 27,000 Jobs in Assam by 2025
Tata Electronics is set to build a Rs 27,000-crore chip assembly plant in Assam, creating 27,000 jobs. The project, expected to be operational by 2025, aims to employ 1,000 individuals initially, expanding to include the entire semiconductor ecosystem. The Assam Government has promised support to ensure successful establishment.
Tata Electronics' Rs 27,000-crore chip assembly plant in Assam will create 27,000 jobs and is expected to become operational in 2025, Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran said. He stated this during the Bhumi Pujan ceremony, highlighting that the plant will initially employ 1,000 people from Assam and attract semiconductor ecosystem companies.
''At full capacity, it will provide 15,000 direct jobs and 12,000 indirect jobs. We are accelerating construction with hopes to start operations by 2025,'' Chandrasekaran added.
The event was graced by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who noted this as a 'golden day' for the state. Sarma assured Tata Sons of smooth operations and highlighted the role of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other officials in making the project possible.
