In an exclusive conversation with ANI, Pieter Elbers, Chief Executive Officer of IndiGo, highlighted the rapid changes in India's aviation sector. Elbers noted that the airline is prepared to meet the evolving needs of Indian customers.

'We are celebrating 18 years, and these 18 years have been a wonderful journey for IndiGo,' Elbers said. 'Today, we welcome 100 million customers on board our flights. We fly to 88 destinations in India and 33 internationally. Our foundation rests on three customer promises: on-time performance, affordable fares, and hassle-free service. Our new business class is designed to meet these promises.'

IndiGo announced the launch of business-class services on 12 metro routes in India starting in November, marking a shift from its no-frills model. The move comes as the airline commemorates its 18th anniversary. 'Whatever has happened in India over the past 2-3 years has accelerated customer needs. We feel that now is the right time for this launch,' Elbers stated.

While bookings open immediately, the new service will be available for travel starting in November. This initiative targets travelers seeking added comfort on domestic routes. Elbers also announced plans for wide-body aircraft operations by 2027, introducing Airbus 350-900 planes.
