Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has issued a directive to officials, urging them to utilize modern technology to repair Maharashtra's potholed roads, amid mounting opposition criticism.
Shinde announced that he will personally review the road conditions on Friday. The CM held a meeting with officials from the National Highway Authority of India, Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation, Public Works Department, State Transport Department, Jawaharlal Nehru Port, Konkan Division, and Thane police to discuss road repairs and highway traffic management for the upcoming Ganesh festival starting September 7.
Highlighting his dissatisfaction with the current state of roads, Shinde instructed officials to promptly use quick-setting hardliner and M60 materials for major potholes and technopatch concrete with a geopolymer base for smaller potholes. 'Authorities are entitled to file legal complaints against individuals obstructing road repairs. The quality of the repair work is paramount,' Shinde stated.
Additionally, Shinde directed the Konkan Division Commissioner, P. Velasaru, to establish parking lots at Sonale, Padgha, and Asangaon on the Mumbai Nashik highway. Heavy commercial vehicles will be banned from 7 am to 11 am and from 5 pm to 11 pm, during which they can wait at these designated parking lots.
