Goods Train Derailment in South Goa Disrupts Rail Services

A goods train derailed in a mountainous region of South Goa bordering Karnataka on Friday morning, impacting train movements on the South Western Railway (SWR) route, according to officials.

The train, pulling 17 loaded wagons, derailed in the ghat section between Sonalium and Dudhsagar stations under the Hubballi division at 9:35 AM, stated SWR's chief public relations officer, Manjunath Kanamadi.

The derailment caused the diversion of three trains and the cancellation of two others. Accident relief trains equipped with 140-ton cranes and other necessary materials have been dispatched to the site, and restoration efforts are underway. Senior SWR officials have arrived at the scene to supervise the clearing of the route.
