BJP MP Mahesh Jethmalani Hits Back at Hindenburg Research Over SEBI Chair Allegations

BJP Rajya Sabha MP and senior Advocate Mahesh Jethmalani has condemned Hindenburg Research's latest allegations against SEBI Chairperson Madhabi Buch. Instead of answering SEBI's notice regarding circumstances around the Adani short sale, Hindenburg chose to attack Buch, which Jethmalani described as a move to destabilize India's stock markets. 'Hindenburg's something big is a pathetic damp squib. Their prior announcement reveals their motive: to create chaos in India's markets,' Jethmalani said in a post on X.

He added that the government should focus on those attempting to harm the economy. 'This reeks of colonial arrogance and contempt for India's economic sovereignty,' he emphasized, also criticizing left-leaning media for supporting Hindenburg's allegations. Additionally, he called for scrutiny of political voices linking Adani to China.

The Adani Group has rejected the recent allegations, calling them 'malicious' and 'manipulative'. Shortly after Hindenburg's claims against the SEBI Chairperson and her husband Dhaval Buch, the couple issued a joint statement refuting the accusations and accusing Hindenburg of 'character assassination'.
