DMRC Issues Safety Advisory Against Kite Flying Near Metro Lines

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has issued an advisory urging citizens to avoid flying kites near elevated metro lines ahead of Independence Day. Such activities can entangle overhead equipment wires, disrupt services, or even cause fatalities. The DMRC has teams in place to mitigate any disruptions and advises flying kites in open spaces.

Ahead of Independence Day, the DMRC on Sunday advised residents not to fly kites near elevated metro lines to ensure safety and prevent metro service disruptions.

With kite flying gaining momentum around August 15, there's a risk of kite strings getting entangled with overhead equipment (OHE) wires or stuck in the pantographs of moving trains, causing potential service interruptions, stated DMRC Principal Executive Director Anuj Dayal in an advisory.

Dayal emphasized that such incidents not only disrupt metro services by damaging OHE or pantographs but also pose a fatal risk to kite flyers using metallic manja. The DMRC has robust measures and dedicated teams to swiftly remove any kite strings to prevent disruptions. He urged the public to fly kites in open spaces away from metro lines to ensure safety and uninterrupted metro services.
