Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) has set a national benchmark by achieving net zero carbon emission status, as confirmed by the Airport Council International (ACI) on Wednesday.

Led by GMR Group, the Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) attained this milestone ahead of its 2030 target through strategic initiatives, including renewable energy, green infrastructures, and the promotion of electric vehicles, according to a statement.

Achieving Level 5 net zero emission accreditation in 2024, the highest in the ACI's Airport Carbon Accreditation programme, IGIA has addressed 90% of scope 1 and 2 CO2 emissions and plans further reductions with sustainable aviation fuel options.
