Vistara's Last Flight: A Journey into Air India Merger

Vistara will cease its operations on November 11 as it merges with Air India, in a deal approved by the Indian government. Singapore Airlines will invest Rs 2,058.5 crore to hold a 25.1% stake in the enlarged Air India Group, creating one of the world's largest airline groups.

Vistara, the nearly 10-year-old airline, will end its operations on November 11 as part of a merger with Tata Group-owned Air India. This development comes after the Indian government approved Singapore Airlines' Rs 2,058.5-crore foreign direct investment in the Air India Group.

The merger, first announced in November 2022, will result in Singapore Airlines acquiring a 25.1 per cent stake in the Air India Group, thus forming one of the largest airline groups globally. According to Singapore Airlines (SIA), the merger is set to be completed by the end of this year.

Air India CEO and MD Campbell Wilson confirmed that November 12 is the set date for transferring Vistara's aircraft and crew to Air India. The last flight under the Vistara brand will take place on November 11, 2024, after which Vistara's routes will be incorporated into Air India's bookings system.
