Union Minister of Heavy Industries, H.D. Kumaraswamy, addressed the 'National Conference on Building India as an Electric Mobility Hub for Viksit Bharat,' organized by ASSOCHAM in New Delhi. The event saw participation from key industry figures like Deepak Sood, Secretary General, ASSOCHAM, and Nishant Arya, Chairman, National Council on Green Mobility.
In his address, Kumaraswamy highlighted the Ministry's unwavering commitment to advancing India's electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem. 'Our focus on fostering local manufacturing and promoting sustainable growth aligns with PM Narendra Modi's vision of 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' and 'Viksit Bharat 2047,' as well as India's goal of achieving Net Zero by 2070,' he said. 'Embracing electric mobility means transforming transportation, creating jobs, and reducing fossil fuel dependence, driving towards a cleaner, greener future,' the Minister added.
Tarun Kapoor, Advisor to the PMO, also delivered a special address, discussing global progress in the EV sector and stressing the necessity for India to embrace EVs due to environmental challenges. He suggested transitioning to electric trucks and ambulances and emphasized the need for more charging points at various locations. Nishant Arya underscored the importance of infrastructure support and technological advancements to position India as a global EV powerhouse. The conference acted as a critical platform for stakeholders to strategize and collaborate on accelerating India's journey toward sustainable transportation and economic growth.
