Trackman Mahadeva Saves Train from Disaster on Konkan Railway

Trackman Mahadeva heroically prevented a major train accident on the Konkan Railway line by flagging down the Thiruvananthapuram-Delhi Rajdhani Express just in time. His quick thinking and bravery earned him accolades and a cash prize from railway officials.

In a heroic act of alertness and bravery, Trackman Mahadeva averted a catastrophic train accident on the Konkan Railway line between Kumta and Honnavar.

According to railway officials, the incident took place at about 4.50 am on Friday when Mahadeva noticed an incomplete welding of the track joint during his routine duty. The Thiruvananthapuram-Delhi Rajdhani Express was approaching this route at the time. Realizing the imminent danger, Mahadeva swiftly contacted the Kumta station to stop the train. Unfortunately, the express train had already departed the station and was speeding toward the compromised section.

Undeterred by failed communication attempts, Mahadeva made a split-second decision to sprint along the tracks, covering half a kilometer in five minutes. In the nick of time, he managed to flag down the train, averting a potential disaster.

With the welding work completed, the Rajdhani Express safely continued its journey towards Karwar. Mahadeva's courageous actions, risking his life for the safety of countless passengers, have received widespread acclaim. Recognizing his bravery, Konkan Railway CMD Santhosh Kumar Jha awarded him a cash prize of Rs 15,000, and Senior Engineer B S Nadge also honored him.
