Niti Aayog, the government's think tank, has extended an invitation for expressions of interest (EoI) to undertake research on the India Innovation Index.
The index is envisioned to motivate states and Union Territories (UTs) to scrutinize and enhance their innovation ecosystems and performances, which could boost India's overall innovation metrics.
As a comprehensive tool, the index aids policymakers nationwide in pinpointing challenges and leveraging strengths when crafting economic growth policies specific to their regions.
Calculated as the mean of scores from 'Enablers' and 'Performance' factors, the index covers pillars like human capital, investment, knowledge workers, business environment, safety, and legal environment.
The Performance aspect highlights benefits derived from inputs, categorized into knowledge output and knowledge diffusion.
The EoI outlines the need to identify both quantifiable and qualitative indicators to gauge innovation across India. The study duration is slated for six months following contract award.
