Three railway employees in Gujarat’s Surat district have been arrested for allegedly tampering with train tracks and then sounding a false alarm claiming it was a sabotage attempt, according to a police official.

The suspects, identified as Subhash Poddar, 39, Manish Mistry, 28, and Shubham Jaiswal, 26, are trackmen in the railways' maintenance department. According to Superintendent of Police Hotesh Joysar, they alerted the railway administration about 'miscreants' removing components from the tracks to derail a train.

A probe initiated under criminal conspiracy laws found that the trio had sent pre-recorded videos of the tampered tracks to their seniors. They confessed to the plan, designed to ensure continued night duty and daytime family time.
