Strengthening US-India Trade Ties: Jaishankar Meets Raimondo

Topics included semiconductors, critical minerals, and supply chain resiliency. They also reviewed progress in US-India CEO Forum and Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity (IPEF).

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar engaged in a pivotal meeting with US Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo to explore avenues for enhancing bilateral trade and investment between the two nations.

During his maiden visit to Washington, DC, under the Modi government's third term, Jaishankar will also hold discussions with other senior officials from the Biden administration. In a social media post on Tuesday, Jaishankar highlighted their conversation on semiconductors, iCET, critical minerals, trusted partnerships, and the resilience of supply chains, emphasizing the strides in tech collaboration and economic ties.

The US Department of Commerce also issued a readout of the meeting, which noted the focus on the US-India CEO Forum and the US-India Commercial Dialogue. These initiatives, spearheaded by the Department of Commerce and India’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry, are designed to fortify trade and investment links. Additionally, both parties applauded the progress made under the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity (IPEF) and reaffirmed their commitment to advancing the framework’s agreements.
