EIB Partners with Banca March to Boost Financing for Spanish Mid-Caps with €300M Deal
José Luis Acea, CEO of Banca March, highlighted the bank's specialization in advising businesses, particularly family-owned enterprises.
The European Investment Bank (EIB) has entered into a new agreement with Banca March, under which the bank will provide up to €300 million in additional financing to Spanish companies with 250 to 3,000 employees. The EIB will back this initiative with an institutional guarantee covering 50% of the total amount, aiming to stimulate private sector investment in the region.
Supporting Mid-Caps and Family Businesses
The primary objective of this agreement is to promote and expedite investment within the private sector, offering essential working capital and liquidity solutions to Spanish mid-caps, many of which are family-owned businesses—a strategic focus for Banca March. The financing aims to facilitate access to attractive financial terms amid a challenging high-interest rate environment.
At least 35% of the investments are anticipated to target regions with a per capita income below the EU average. This approach aligns with the EIB Group's strategic priorities to enhance competitiveness and regional cohesion.
Strengthening Economic Growth
"The EIB is once again joining forces with Banca March to take another step forward in developing attractive lending solutions tailored to the needs of Spanish mid-caps," said Gemma Feliciani, EIB Director of Financial Institutions. She emphasized that this agreement exemplifies successful collaboration between public and private sectors to boost competitiveness in a vital business segment for Spain's economic growth and job creation.
This initiative is part of the EIB's broader efforts to finance small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and mid-caps. It aligns with both institutions' commitment to improving industrial competitiveness within the European Union.
Commitment to Financial Access
José Luis Acea, CEO of Banca March, highlighted the bank's specialization in advising businesses, particularly family-owned enterprises. "This agreement reflects our ongoing commitment to make it easier for Spanish companies to access finance from top-tier European institutions, enabling them to serve as key motors of economic and social development in their sectors," he stated.
The collaboration between EIB and Banca March signifies a pivotal step towards fostering sustainable growth for Spanish mid-caps, ensuring they remain competitive in an increasingly complex economic landscape.
