NPG Evaluates Key Infrastructure Ventures for Enhanced Connectivity

The 87th NPG meeting discussed five infrastructure projects under PM GatiShakti, focusing on improving connectivity and logistics efficiency. Key initiatives include the expansion of Ayodhya Airport, the Delhi-Panipat-Karnal RRTS corridor, Pune Metro Line 4, and major road projects in Telangana and Tripura.

In a move to bolster India's infrastructure network, the 87th meeting of the Network Planning Group (NPG) took place under the leadership of E. Srinivas, Joint Secretary of DPIIT. The session focused on the review of five major projects aimed at enhancing multimodal connectivity as part of the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan.

Highlighting the strategic endeavors was the Phase-II expansion of Maharishi Valmiki International Airport in Ayodhya. The project aims to cater to the rising passenger numbers with a new terminal capable of accommodating six million passengers annually by 2046-47. Upgrades include a revamped runway, new parking bays, and improved access roads.

Another pivotal project is the Delhi-Panipat-Karnal Namo Bharat RRTS Corridor by NCRTC, which promises to reduce travel time dramatically. The corridor is designed to integrate seamlessly with metro and rail networks, enhancing connectivity across regions. Meanwhile, the Pune Metro Line 4 is set to boost urban transit, while significant road projects in Telangana and Tripura aim to improve interstate connectivity and transport links.
