Volvo's Mega Investment: Transforming Karnataka into a Global Auto Hub

Volvo, the Swedish bus and truck manufacturer, announced a significant expansion of its Hoskote plant near Bengaluru, with a Rs 1,400 crore investment aimed at increasing production capacity and job creation. The expansion is poised to produce 20,000 vehicles annually, enhancing India's role in the global supply chain.

Volvo, a leading bus and truck manufacturer headquartered in Sweden, is investing Rs 1,400 crore to expand its production facility located in Hoskote near Bengaluru, India. This hefty investment is expected to generate over 2,000 direct jobs, reflecting the company's strategy to bolster both local employment and production capabilities.

The announcement was made during a signing agreement in the presence of Karnataka's Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. The deal, also attended by Minister for Large and Medium Industries M B Patil, marks a significant milestone in the state's industrial development. It was formalized at the Invest Karnataka-2025 summit by Volvo India's Managing Director Kamal Bali and Principal Secretary of Industries Department Selvakumar.

According to Volvo CEO Martin Lundstedt, the Hoskote plant's capacity will rise from 3,000 to 20,000 vehicles per year, which will not only meet local demands but also strengthen India's position in the global supply network. Bengaluru is identified as Volvo's fourth largest international hub, reflecting its integral role in the company's global operations.
