Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has revealed that the state is employing artificial intelligence (AI) to tackle tax evasion, a vital move to propel economic growth. Speaking at the GST 'Jaagrookta Abhiyan' event at Prajna Bhavan, Saha highlighted the fundamental role tax collection plays in the northeastern state's development.

The chief minister disclosed figures from the state's annual budget of Rs 27,800 crore for 2024-25, noting that its own revenue accounts for Rs 3,700 crore. He emphasized the necessity of increasing tax collection to fund development projects, as significant portions of the revenue are allocated to essential expenditures and the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) and Urban Local Bodies (ULBs).

Saha further urged citizens to adhere to GST regulations, framing them as partners in the state's growth. He stressed that with the introduction of AI and strengthened systems, tax evaders would face legal repercussions, reinforcing the state's commitment to infrastructure development towards achieving India's broader 'Viksit Bharat' vision by 2047.
