In a grim report to the assembly, Chhattisgarh's state government disclosed that over 33,700 individuals have died in road accidents over the past six years, with an additional 70,255 injured in 79,523 incidents. The state is ramping up preventive measures alongside remedial actions for accident-prone zones.

To combat this crisis, over 16,000 public awareness programs were conducted last year, targeting traffic rules adherence and safety practices. Simultaneously, infrastructure upgrades at the 848 identified 'black spots' have been prioritized, aiming to significantly reduce accident rates.

Further support is extended to victims via compensation schemes and free medical treatments, as announced by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai. The state has also collected substantial penalties for rule enforcement, highlighting a comprehensive approach to enhancing road safety.
