Telecom giant Vodafone Idea is gearing up to challenge a Rs 16.73 crore Goods and Services Tax (GST) demand order issued by the Deputy Commissioner of the Large Taxpayer Unit in West Bengal.
The company has expressed disagreement with this order and intends to file an appeal. According to a BSE filing, the order, dated February 27, 2025, charges Vodafone Idea with excess availment of Input Tax credit and short payment of taxes.
The financial ramifications could include the tax demand, interest, and a substantial penalty of Rs 16,73,33,489. Vodafone Idea is preparing to address these alleged discrepancies under GST laws.
