Amidst booming sales and economic transformations in India's Khadi sector, wages for artisans are poised to rise by 20% beginning April 2025, announced KVIC Chairman Manoj Kumar at a press conference in New Delhi. The increase marks a significant milestone in the Modi administration's efforts to uplift rural artisans.

Since Prime Minister Narendra Modi's tenure began, the 'Khadi Revolution' has spurred a substantial wage increase of 275% over the last 11 years, with further increments planned. The continuous rise highlights the Indian government's commitment to empowering rural spinners and weavers, as wages per hank have steadily climbed.

The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) witnessed record-breaking sales during the Maha Kumbh 2025 exhibition in Prayagraj, hinting at the burgeoning popularity of Khadi. These developments align with Modi's vision for a 'Khadi Renaissance,' bringing traditional fashion into modern wardrobes and driving employment.
