Balochistan Train Hijacking Ends in Tragedy

Pakistan's military ended a hostage situation involving a separatist militant group that hijacked a passenger train in Balochistan. The military confirmed 21 hostages and 33 insurgents were killed. The BLA, responsible for the attack, had demanded the release of Baloch political prisoners within a 48-hour deadline.

In a tragic conclusion to a tense standoff, Pakistan's military confirmed on Wednesday that it had ended a hostage situation involving separatist militants who had hijacked a passenger train in Balochistan, resulting in multiple casualties.

According to Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, the military's spokesperson, 21 hostages and all 33 separatist insurgents were killed by the time the operation was concluded. On Tuesday, Baloch insurgents attacked the Jaffar Express by destroying the railway tracks and launching rockets at more than 400 passengers aboard.

The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), which claimed responsibility for the attack, had threatened to kill hostages unless the government complied with their demands to release Baloch political prisoners, activists, and missing persons by a 48-hour deadline.
