The latest round of trade negotiations between the United States and India promises 'equitable' outcomes, according to senior American diplomat Mike Hankey. Speaking on Tuesday, Hankey pointed to tariffs and non-tariff barriers as inherently unfair to the American economy.
During his visit, Brendan Lynch, the US trade representative for South and Central Asia, sparked discussions emblematic of the US's commitment to fair trade with India. Hankey emphasized that these talks aim for constructive solutions.
Reflecting on President Trump's 'America First' policy, Hankey outlined the push for a balanced tariff plan to correct existing trade disparities. While defending US economic security, Hankey underlined that this strategy does not equate to isolationism.
