A newly built railway over-bridge in Madhya Pradesh has drawn widespread criticism due to its unusual 90-degree turn, raising concerns about vehicle safety. Despite being constructed at a significant cost of Rs 18 crore near the Aishbagh stadium, the bridge remains unopened as authorities scramble to find a solution.
The Public Works Department (PWD) Minister, Rakesh Singh, stated that the unconventional design resulted from land constraints. Consequently, a committee of chief engineers has been assembled to explore safer alternatives. The team, in coordination with the National Highway Authority and railway stakeholders, aims to recommend corrective measures.
Sources indicate that the PWD seeks additional land from the Railways to mitigate the issue. However, Railways spokesperson Naval Agarwal reported that no formal request had been made yet. Once it arrives, he assured it would be duly considered. The hope is that an allocation of extra land could convert the problematic 90-degree turn into a safer curved passage.
