Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah returned to Srinagar by the Vande Bharat train from Katra, emphasizing the critical need to boost train capacity in the region. He intends to approach Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and the Railway Ministry to address the issue.

Abdullah, who traveled with National Conference president Farooq Abdullah and advisor Nasir Aslam Wani, noted the burgeoning demand for train travel. He pointed out that while passenger numbers are soaring, the availability of trains is insufficient.

Tickets on the train service are reportedly unavailable until the next month, prompting Abdullah to press for immediate action. This follows Prime Minister Narendra Modi's launch of the Vande Bharat Express connecting Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra to Srinagar.
