Stepping Up Safety: Western Railway's Security Overhaul Post 7/11

Following the devastating 7/11 train attacks, Western Railway has revamped its security strategy, including quick reaction teams, enhanced surveillance via Integrated Security System with extensive CCTV coverage, and strategic coordination with state and central agencies. In recent developments, Bombay High Court acquitted all 12 accused in the case.

In light of the tragic 7/11 train blasts, Western Railway has made significant strides in enhancing safety at its stations. An official disclosed these measures on Monday, emphasizing a comprehensive security overhaul.

In collaboration with the Railway Protection Force (RPF), Government Railway Police (GRP), intelligence agencies, and local administration, Western Railway has deployed quick reaction teams across major stations, enhanced intelligence coordination, and implemented anti-sabotage checks. These efforts include installing over 3,000 CCTVs and deploying five X-ray baggage scanners at key stations.

Additionally, on Monday, the Bombay High Court acquitted all 12 individuals accused in the 2006 blasts, marking a significant legal development in the catastrophic event's lengthy judicial process.
