On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, the Haryana government has announced free travel for women and children up to 15 years old on the state's roadways buses. This initiative was confirmed by Transport Minister Anil Vij, with approval from Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. The offer extends to buses within Haryana and those operating to Chandigarh and Delhi from noon on August 8 to midnight on August 9.
The decision aims to provide ease of transportation for families celebrating the festival. In a related development, Minister Vij highlighted issues regarding the allocation of routes for private buses, pointing out poor management and scheduling conflicts with state-operated buses. To address this, officials have been tasked with reviewing current schedules and considering necessary adjustments to optimize bus usage.
Further emphasizing the government's dedication to transportation accessibility, Vij stressed plans to ensure Haryana Roadways buses serve every village. In a separate initiative, he announced plans to visit the state from August 15 to meet citizens and party members, underscoring the government's engagement beyond political motives.
