India-US Trade Talks: Navigating Tariffs and Strengthening Partnerships

In a significant diplomatic interaction, Indian Ambassador Vinay Mohan Kwatra briefed US Congressman Marc Veasey on India's stance regarding recent developments, emphasizing the need for fair, balanced, and mutually beneficial trade to bolster the bilateral relationship.

Recent discussions with Congressman Michael Baumgartner also focused on trade and energy partnerships. The dialogue comes amid new US tariffs, including a 25% tariff on India's Russian oil purchases, which India views as unjustified.

Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jitin Prasada informed Parliament about the ongoing negotiations of a multi-sector bilateral trade agreement. Five rounds have been completed, but the US postponed the sixth round of talks originally scheduled for August 25.
