India's Textile Revolution: From Local to Global

The minister praised initiatives like the PM MITRA Park in Dhar, predicting significant growth opportunities.

Union Minister Pabitra Margherita asserted India's dominance in the global textile market, home to 1.4 billion consumers. Speaking at the National Institute of Fashion Technology's convocation in Bhopal, he emphasized India's enduring leadership in this sector.

Despite facing challenges from steep US tariffs, Margherita assured reporters that India's domestic market remains strong, underscoring efforts to promote 'swadeshi' or indigenous products. He noted ongoing progress under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's administration, highlighting India as a top exporter of textiles and apparel.

The minister also highlighted the PM MITRA Park in Dhar as a transformational project for the industry, aimed at enhancing India's textile capabilities. The 2150-acre park, he noted, will bolster India's 'Viksit Bharat' initiative and strengthen its position in global textile markets.
