In anticipation of the festive season, Western Railway General Manager Vivek Kumar Gupta highlighted robust measures to handle the significant passenger influx at Bandra terminus ahead of Diwali and Chhath Puja. The railway plans over 2,400 trips, primarily north-bound, with special emphasis on safety and convenience.
Following last year's stampede incident, a mobile UTS ticketing system has been introduced to expedite ticketing processes. Enhanced safety protocols are in place with additional Railway Protection Force and Government Railway Police deployed at key stations, complemented by 24/7 CCTV surveillance and proactive crowd management strategies.
The railway has enhanced passenger amenities, including free drinking water and improved toilet facilities. Temporary and permanent holding areas are established to manage crowds, alongside the suspension of platform ticket sales at congested stations. Continuous monitoring ensures a coordinated approach to managing the festive rush, as Gupta urges passengers to plan ahead and utilize mobile ticketing options.
