Rourkela Steel Plant's Modern Facility Paves Way for Regional Development

Union minister H D Kumaraswamy inaugurated a cutting-edge steel-making facility at the Rourkela Steel Plant of SAIL, emphasizing its pivotal role in the socio-economic development of the Rourkela region.
Accompanied by Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram, Kumaraswamy's two-day visit to Odisha was geared towards reviewing and supporting endeavors to modernize the steel plant, according to official sources.
In a significant development, SAIL earlier revealed plans to expand the plant's production from its current level to approximately 9 million tonnes, a move projected to cost Rs 30,000 crore. This expansion aims to bolster supply lines to key industries including defense, oil and gas, and automotive sectors, as affirmed by the Union Minister.
