Indian airlines are swiftly upgrading the software in their A320 family aircraft due to critical flight control issues. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) indicates that upgrades have already been implemented on over 189 aircraft out of 338 that need modification.
The software improvements aim to address data corruption tied to solar radiation, which Airbus warns could affect flight controls. As maintenance is underway, some flights experience delays between 60-90 minutes, though no cancellations have been reported.
Airbus's alert triggered immediate actions from the DGCA, reinforcing the urgency with directives for completion by November 30. Affected aircraft include those operated by major carriers such as IndiGo, Air India, and Air India Express.
