IndiGo, the leading airline in India, recently faced significant operational challenges, resulting in the cancellation of over 1,000 flights. CEO Pieter Elbers addressed the disruptions, ensuring passengers that normalcy is expected to resume between December 10 and 15.

In a video message, Elbers expressed regret over the inconvenience caused to travelers and explained the need for a comprehensive overhaul of systems and schedules. This drastic measure led to the highest number of cancellations so far but is deemed necessary for gradual improvements starting from the next day.

Contributing to the disruption is the delay in implementing new Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL) norms by aviation regulator DGCA. IndiGo generally operates approximately 2,300 flights daily, highlighting the magnitude of the issue. Support from DGCA is proving vital in navigating these challenges.
