Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav launched a scathing criticism of the ruling BJP government, highlighting the rupee's record decline against the US dollar as indicative of the falsity in the government's economic claims. According to Yadav, the currency's depreciation underscores the vulnerability and failure of the government's economic strategies.
Yadav contended that the BJP's alleged economic prowess was deceptive, as evidenced by the rupee reaching its weakest level in history. The former Uttar Pradesh chief minister insisted that such a downturn in currency strength is a direct result of ineffective governance.
On December 12, the rupee depreciated further, closing at an all-time low of 90.49 against the dollar. Forex traders attribute this to aggressive dollar acquisitions by importers and unstable global economic conditions, bringing economic policies into sharper scrutiny amid the declining currency value.
