The eagerly awaited Delhi-Dehradun expressway is nearing completion and is expected to open for the public within the next two weeks. In a recent statement, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari confirmed that the expressway will drastically cut travel time between the two cities from 6.5 hours to just two hours.

The expressway stretches over 212 kilometers and has been developed with a substantial investment of Rs 12,000 crore. It originates from the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway (DME) near Akshardham in Delhi and extends towards Dehradun via several key locations, including Shastri Park and Khajuri Khas.

Safety and environmental considerations have played a vital role in the construction, particularly in the Ganeshpur to Dehradun section, which is designed to be wildlife-friendly. Notably, the project includes 12 kilometers of elevated road to facilitate animal crossings, ensuring minimal ecological disruption.
