Inferno in the French Alps: Evacuation at Courchevel High-End Hotels
A fire at the Hotel des Grandes Alpes in Courchevel led to the evacuation of over 90 people. The blaze started in the attic, prompting further evacuations at a nearby hotel. Thankfully, no injuries were reported. The incident raises concerns amid regional scrutiny on safety measures post a tragic bar fire in Switzerland.
A fierce blaze swept through the five-star Hotel des Grandes Alpes in Courchevel, a prominent ski resort in the French Alps, prompting the evacuation of scores of guests and staff late on Tuesday. Local officials confirmed there were no injuries despite the rapid spread of the fire.
The fire originated in the hotel's attic around 7 p.m., leading to the swift evacuation of over 90 people. In a preventive measure, the adjacent Hotel Le Lana, housing nearly 200 guests, was also evacuated on Wednesday morning as a precautionary step due to the ongoing threat from the fire.
The incident has heightened concerns over safety standards following a deadly bar fire in the Swiss resort of Crans-Montana on New Year's Eve, which resulted in 40 casualties and over 100 injuries, drawing attention to the need for stringent safety protocols in the region.
