Punjab's LPG distributors sounded alarms over what they claim is an 'inadequate' supply of cooking gas. Despite assurances from the Union government and oil marketing companies about adequate availability, distributors argue the reality on the ground tells a different story.
Federation of LPG Distributors of Punjab president, Gurpal Singh Mann, pointed to recent price hikes—Rs 60 per domestic cylinder and Rs 115 per commercial cylinder—as triggers for public panic. The situation is exacerbated by restrictive booking intervals and temporary suspension of booking channels, leaving distributors drowning in public demand.
This disconnect between official statements and actual supply has eroded public trust, Mann warned. He called for clear, timely communications and policy clarity to resolve the supply issues, impacting 980 LPG distributors and 96 lakh customers in Punjab.
