A tragic accident at a toll booth on a busy highway in central Colombia claimed at least two lives and caused injuries to 19 more on Wednesday morning, according to local authorities.
The disaster was triggered when a milk truck lost control of its brakes, crashing into six vehicles and a motorcycle waiting at the toll booth in the Cundinamarca region, north of Bogota. The resulting collision led to several explosions, engulfing vehicles in flames.
Governor Emilio Rey stated that the injured were being treated in nearby hospitals without specifying their conditions. Eyewitnesses shared harrowing accounts of the incident, as emergency services, including 11 ambulances and crews of firefighters and police officers, rushed to the scene. The road remains closed as investigations continue.
