Milma Milk Price Crisis: Urgent Call for Cost Adjustment
Milma's governing body members urge an immediate hike in milk prices to counter rising production costs. Despite a committee's recommendation, implementation delays hinder relief for dairy farmers. Soaring feed, commodity, and labor costs, along with reduced milk production, compound financial strains, threatening the dairy sector's sustainability.

The governing body of Milma's Ernakulam Regional Co-operative Milk Producers' Union (ERCMPU) advocated for an urgent hike in milk prices on Saturday, citing rising production expenses as a significant concern.
In a protest move outside the Federation office, the members voiced their demand for the swift execution of the Kerala Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation's (KCMMF) established decision. Previously, in August, ERCMPU had already made a formal request for price adjustment due to similar concerns.
The delays, reportedly influenced by political interventions, are now aggravating the already critical economic condition of the dairy sector, aggravated further by dwindling milk production due to harsh weather conditions and cost escalations in essential supplies.
