Delhi govt holds stakeholders' meeting on draft EV policy

The Delhi government held a stakeholders meeting on Wednesday with industry leaders, aggregators, and electric vehicle ecosystem players for feedback on the draft EV policy. Stakeholders across categories, including aggregators, electric vehicle manufacturers, battery recyclers, auto associations, and e-rickshaw unions, shared their perspectives on strengthening EV adoption, improving charging infrastructure, enhancing battery recycling frameworks, and ensuring affordability and accessibility for all sections of society.

The Delhi government held a stakeholders' meeting on Wednesday with industry leaders, aggregators, and electric vehicle ecosystem players for feedback on the draft EV policy. The Delhi EV Policy 2026 will be shaped by collective wisdom from all stakeholders to ensure a future-ready, inclusive, and sustainable mobility ecosystem, said Transport Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh. The consultation aimed to gather actionable feedback and recommendations from industry stakeholders to support the evidence-based refinement and finalisation of the policy, said a statement from the minister's office. Leading mobility aggregators and logistics platforms, including Ola Group, Uber, Rapido, Porter, as well as representatives from Zomato, Blinkit, Swiggy and Flipkart, attended the consultation. The Delhi government recently issued its draft EV policy for feedback from stakeholders. The consultation involved the manufacturing ecosystem, policy recommendations, focus on scrappage policy alignment and end-of-life vehicle management, fleet electrification, last-mile connectivity, and operational challenges, among other topics. Stakeholders across categories, including aggregators, electric vehicle manufacturers, battery recyclers, auto associations, and e-rickshaw unions, shared their perspectives on strengthening EV adoption, improving charging infrastructure, enhancing battery recycling frameworks, and ensuring affordability and accessibility for all sections of society. They also highlighted the importance of affordable financing, inclusion of last-mile and low-speed vehicles, and targeted support for gig workers and vulnerable sections. The transport minister said that a dedicated policy has been drafted, which will be announced shortly, aimed at making operations more organised, safe, and economically viable. He added that efforts are underway to ensure comprehensive registration of all e-rickshaw drivers, enabling them to access government schemes and benefits.
