NARCL Boosts Recovery Momentum in FY 2025-26 with Significant Gains
The National Asset Reconstruction Company Limited (NARCL) reported Rs 4,364 crore in recoveries in FY 2025-26, boosting total recoveries to Rs 6,345 crore. This accounts for 70% of cumulative recoveries and enhances resolution outcomes. NARCL's focus on large-value accounts aids capital recycling and supports credit growth.
The National Asset Reconstruction Company Limited (NARCL) has achieved a robust increase in its recovery activities for the fiscal year 2025-26, realizing Rs 4,364 crore during this period. According to the Ministry of Finance, this figure elevates the total cumulative recoveries to Rs 6,345 crore, signifying a marked improvement in resolution outcomes and recovery momentum within its stressed asset resolution framework.
As of March 2026, NARCL had acquired 33 borrower entities with a combined debt exposure of Rs 1,65,862 crore. The company also played a significant role in resolution processes guided by the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC), bolstering its impact on the resolution ecosystem. The ministry reported recoveries in 23 accounts worth Rs 6,345 crore, representing over 48% of acquisition cost. Notably, complete resolutions were achieved in three accounts, with recovery percentages of 148%, 115%, and 183% indicating strong value maximization for lenders.
Through consolidating large stressed exposures and steering their resolution via transparent and market-driven mechanisms, NARCL has meaningfully advanced recovery outcomes, unlocking value for lenders. The company is actively pursuing additional large-value account acquisitions, aiming to hit its Rs 2 lakh crore acquisition target. This strategy is expected to enhance capital recycling, improve banks' balance sheet strength, and support ongoing credit growth in the economy. NARCL's progress highlights the effectiveness of a unified institutional approach in resolving stressed assets, strengthening the financial sector, and affirming the government's commitment to its resilience.
