Gujarat Police have clinched the third spot among India's major states for retrieving stolen mobile phones, successfully returning 53,564 devices to their owners during the 2025-26 financial year, according to officials.
This notable achievement underscores the effective collaboration between the Gujarat Police and the Department of Telecommunications (DoT). On a national scale, more than 50 million mobile devices have been blocked, with Gujarat accounting for 183,985 of these cases.
The Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) system, implemented by the DoT, plays a crucial role in blocking and recovering lost or stolen mobile devices. Cities such as Ahmedabad, Dang, and Bhavnagar led the state's stellar performance, with Ahmedabad topping the state CEIR ranking.
