A fire and an explosion rocked the HMM Namu cargo vessel operated by South Korean shipper HMM in the Strait of Hormuz, noted the South Korean Foreign Ministry. HMM confirmed the blaze began in the engine room of the Panama-flagged ship, with no casualties reported among the 24 crew members on board.
The U.S. military disclosed that two U.S. Navy guided-missile destroyers entered the Gulf following Iranian actions to block a U.S. warship. Concurrently, South Korean authorities are cooperating with international partners, ensuring vessel and crew safety amid maritime tensions in the region.
