In response to a surge in panic buying at fuel stations across Odisha, the state government reassured citizens that there are sufficient petrol and diesel reserves to meet demand. Despite rumors of a possible fuel shortage, officials confirm that stocks are adequate for the next 13 days.

Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister K C Patra emphasized that the increase in fuel demand, which has risen by approximately 50 percent recently, is driven by a misinterpretation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call for reduced fuel consumption. He urged consumers not to succumb to unfounded panic.

Both state and oil marketing companies are taking measures to ensure continuous supply, with a focus on public transport needs. Meanwhile, political leaders criticized the current administration, attributing the situation to ineffective economic policies. Citizens are advised to avoid stockpiling fuel unnecessarily as replenishment is ongoing.
