Fuel Dealers in Rajasthan Threaten Strike Over Pricing and Supply Issues

Petrol pump operators in Rajasthan could launch an indefinite strike starting June 1 if their concerns over fuel pricing, supply disruptions, and VAT rates are not addressed by the government. The dealers are also frustrated by actions against those supplying beyond limits and pressure to sell higher-priced branded fuel.

Petrol station operators in Rajasthan are set to initiate an indefinite strike from June 1, unless the state government intervenes to resolve fuel pricing and supply challenges. The Rajasthan Petroleum Dealers Association has highlighted issues such as high VAT rates and administrative measures against operators as key concerns.

The association, led by Rajendra Singh Bhati, has accused government officials of failing to respond to their requests for discussions. The dealers report ongoing disruptions in fuel supplies and imposed limitations by oil companies without official notices. Bhati expressed fears that such constraints could adversely affect the agriculture-dependent rural region, especially during the monsoon.

The association has also demanded action on illegal biodiesel trade and settling outstanding payments for fuel supplied during official events. Dealers emphasize the need for VAT reductions, asserting it is crucial to align Rajasthan's fuel prices with neighboring states like Punjab.

Unless their demands are met and a meeting is convened, the association warns that the upcoming strike will proceed as planned, potentially impacting fuel availability across the state.
