Air Force Finds Vision Fix: Boeing's KC-46 Set for Upgrade

The U.S. Air Force has announced a breakthrough in tackling issues with Boeing's KC-46 aerial refueling tanker's remote vision system, a pivotal component for midair refueling using the aircraft's boom.

Air Force Secretary Troy Meink informed a Senate subcommittee that the upgraded vision system, tested and proven effective, will begin production line integration in 2028, five years later than planned.

Despite Boeing's $7 billion loss on the contract, the Air Force may consider purchasing 75 more tankers if the new system resolves enduring issues.
