The Cell for IPR Promotion and Management (CIPAM) has launched the second edition of intellectual property competition for students of schools, polytechnic institutes, colleges and universities, the commerce and industry ministry Monday said. The competition is aimed at fostering a culture of innovation and creativity in the younger generation, it said.

Entries are invited in two categories – film making and comic book making. The film making competition will accept entries of 60 second long animated/film videos, while the comic book making encourages participants to narrate a story in comic strips under five pages.

Cash prizes worth Rs 2 lakh will be given to the winning teams besides a special trophy of recognition for the scholars institutes or colleges that the students represent. The last date for receiving entries is May 30 .

* Commerce and Industry Minister Suresh Prabhu has inaugurated National Institute of Design (NIDs) at Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh (MP) and Jorhat in Assam through video conference on February 22. Both institutes are autonomous institutions under the commerce and industry ministry.

"With design and innovation taking prime importance in many sectors, policies, and schemes of the government like Make in India, Skill India, Digital India, and Startup India, it is imperative to promote design education," the ministry said in a statement on Monday.
