Congress Leaders Demand Fair Probe into NEET-UG Irregularities

Haryana Congress leader Deepender Hooda has called for a fair investigation into alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG examination. He emphasized the need for transparency to maintain public trust. The National Testing Agency has defended the exam's integrity, despite increased cut-off marks and topper numbers raising concerns.

Haryana Congress leader and newly elected MP from Rohtak, Deepender Hooda, demanded on Saturday a thorough investigation into the allegations of irregularities in the NEET-UG medical entrance exam. Highlighting growing concerns about the exam's authenticity, Hooda stressed that those responsible should not be spared. 'Under the BJP's rule, people have completely lost faith in the examination system,' Hooda said in a statement.

'Candidates who sat for the NEET-UG exam allege that examinees from a specific center scored 720 out of 720 marks, raising doubts,' Hooda added, calling for a high-level inquiry into the matter.

Following these allegations, the National Testing Agency (NTA) clarified that the rise in cut-off marks and the number of top scorers reflect the competitive nature of the exam and asserted that its integrity remains intact. The clarification came amid accusations of irregularities in the NEET, conducted in multiple cities and abroad on May 5.

Hooda further emphasized that maintaining the transparency and integrity of competitive exams is the government's primary responsibility. 'These irregularities impact the dedication, dreams, and future of numerous students,' he noted.

The NTA also addressed candidates' concerns raised through petitions, stating that 1,563 candidates were compensated for lost time during the exam, with revised scores ranging from -20 to 720 marks.

Senior Congress leader Kumari Selja from Sirsa alleged that under the BJP's governance, exam frauds and paper leaks have become commonplace. She demanded a Supreme Court-supervised high-level investigation to ensure justice for meritorious students.

'The Congress demands an immediate high-level probe under the Supreme Court's supervision in response to these allegations of irregularities in the NEET-UG,' Selja said.
