Gujarat is set to empower 4.37 lakh girls through financial aid under two comprehensive schemes introduced by the state government. Launched in March, these initiatives aim to assist eligible female students from Classes 9 to 12.

In the latest enrollment drive, 4.03 lakh girl students registered for the 'Namo Lakshmi Yojana', while nearly 37,000 girls opted for the 'Namo Saraswati Vigyan Sadhana Yojana'. These schemes are part of the 'Shala Praveshotsav - Kanya Kelavni Mahotsav 2024', an annual campaign to encourage student admissions in Gujarat.

The 'Namo Lakshmi Yojana' offers Rs 50,000 over four years to girls from families earning less than Rs 6 lakh annually. The 'Namo Saraswati Vigyan Sadhana Yojana' provides financial incentives to students pursuing science in Classes 11 and 12. The aid will be transferred directly to the students' bank accounts or their mothers' accounts through DBT.
