President Droupadi Murmu emphasized the transformative impact of the newly implemented National Education Policy (NEP) during her address to the nation on the eve of the 78th Independence Day. According to Murmu, the NEP is pivotal in cultivating young minds and fostering a new mindset that blends traditional and contemporary knowledge.

Murmu underscored that the ongoing Amrit Kaal period, leading up to the centenary of India's Independence, will be shaped by today's youth. She stressed the importance of their energy and enthusiasm in driving the nation to new heights and highlighted various governmental initiatives aimed at skilling and employment opportunities as fundamental contributions towards India's future.

Launched in 2020, the NEP replaced the 1986 National Policy on Education and advocates extending the Right to Education Act to cover education from pre-school to Class 12. The revamped schooling system now follows a 5+3+3+4 formula, a departure from the prior 10+2 model, to better meet the developmental stages of students.
